Today kicks off a big weekend, and for those of us staying close to home, or within driving distance, and still plan on cooking, here’s a big list of Memorial Day favorites. Grilling is at the top of most people’s list, so here are some delicious ideas about what to fix for your family and friends. It’s fun to mix it up a bit, and dabble in a few different recipes, like making burgers alongside some grilled fish, or BBQ chicken with sausages or hot dogs. It just really depends upon your tastes and how many people are coming to celebrate.
Salads are a big part of my menu and turn any gathering into a more delightful one. Salad ingredients should always be fresh, and seasonal, so create some things that really show-off this time of the year. Cookies, brownies, cobblers and crisps are things that you can whip up quickly and serve in a moments notice. They also last for hours outside on a buffet table or indoors in the kitchen, where guests can serve themselves. I just love this time of year, when the smell of grilled foods is in the air, and laughter surrounds each and every living space.
