Spring has sprung and with the season, thoughts of barbecuing begin. Although the weather is still chilly in most parts of the country, there is no better time to clean the grill and begin planning America’s favorite pastime; cooking melt-in-your-mouth Burgers & Sliders. To create a good burger, you most definitely need to consider the meat, whether is be beef, turkey, chicken, pork or seafood. Fat content is a huge factor in which cuts to choose, and if you unsure which are best, consult your butcher.
I have created some of my favorite recipes for Burgers & Sliders, not all of them cooked on an outdoor grill. I find that an iron skillet works similar magic to an outdoor grill in developing an exterior crust on burgers, while keeping the inside juicy good. The bun is always a big decision for a good burger. Potato, Brioche, Sesame Seed, Pretzel, English Muffin or Sourdough — are all very good choices. Sometimes, I enjoy my burgers wrapped in crunchy iceberg lettuce, for an enjoyable touch. Either way, burgers dominate our casual culture and they are the perfect food to make right at home.
