Blueberry Paloma – Recipe!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

My favorite drink last summer was a paloma.  Historically a paloma has tequila, lime juice and grapefruit soda, but I do mine a little differently and add fresh grapefruit juice and soda water.  However, this summer I wanted to change things up a bit, and enjoy that same drink, but with blueberries added for a fresh kick.  Blueberries and grapefruit go magically together because while one is bitter, the other is sweet, and now that berries are into season, it’s the perfect time to create this drink.

Using crushed ice is important when making this tequila-based cocktail because the smaller chips makes it more liquidity, but if you don’t have any in your freezer, just give some cubes a quick whirl in the food processor and you’re all set.  All the ingredients can be mixed together in a cocktail shaker and then poured directly into an icy glass for sipping.  I used reposado tequila because it’s my favorite, but blanco tequila will work just as well.

Can you see yourself this late afternoon with drink in hand, enjoying the sunset?  I can.  This is what summer is made of in my opinion – great drinks, great weather, and time to chill.
