Happy Father’s Day! I hope many of you are doing something special for dad today. Today, brings barbecue, good laughter. and a time to gather and talk — some of my favorite things. We’re enjoying Santa Ynez and taking my dad to brunch at River Course, and then hitting Rusack Vineyards for a wine tasting. If you haven’t been to Rusack, it’s a lovely winery with outdoor seating under gorgeous trees on a beautifully remodeled deck. The tastings are done in flights and you can choose between three different pairings. Afterwards, it’s home for some Bocce Ball before I whip up some dinner.
This week brings the true beginning to summer, according to the calendar anyway — and on Monday we’re kicking it off with Skillet Chicken Sausages, Onions, Zucchini and Basil. Tuesday is a great day for a tacos, and my Slow-Cooker Carnitas Street Tacos cook up beautifully in a slow-cooker without heating up the kitchen. Hump Day is all about a something quick and tasty, and my Summer Succotash with Bacon goes so nicely with any grilled chicken, beef or vegetable protein. Thursday is a good day for Beef and Cheddar Sliders with Caramelized Onions. TGIF and it’s time for a cocktail – and a Spiked Watermelon Cooler will certainly hit the spot at the end of a busy week. Saturday’s are for baking, but this week we will minimize oven time and enjoy Limoncello Berry Trifle. Have a great week and get outdoors!
