Public School 310 is a newish gastropub in Culver City located in the old Fraiche space. Public School is owned and operated by the Grill Concepts Inc. group which owns the Daily Grill chains and The Grill on the Alley. The interior has communal tables and booths on the sides as well as a bar area and seating on the patio.
As for the menu, it is printed to look like it reads from an old composition book the kind we used to use to write our essays in school. Beer is the focus in this place with over 20 on tap. As for the food, it is comfort all the way. Bacon Cheddar Tots are these small cylinder spuds with cheese and bacon inside and fried until crunchy. The flavors of potato skins but easier to pop in your mouth. The Speck and Eggs looked fantastic as well — deviled eggs with crunchy speck sticking out of the center. The Cutting Board was an array of cheeses and meats with little condiments.
On the healthier side, of course — Kale Caesar Salad but the Tuscan Chop Salad was a better mix of lettuces with burrata, chickpeas, salami and crispy speck. The flavors worked well together without it tasting like just another “kale salad”.
For larger plates, Public School 310 has a little bit of everything from Fish & Chips to Irish Stout Short Ribs. Also, they offer a couple of burger selections, one being the Colorado Lamb Burger served on a brioche bun with a cranberry chutney. The meat was thick and juicy and the sweetness of the chutney paired well with the gamey lamb. Our server, who was fantastic, offered us the mustard bbq sauce which went well with the lamb and fries!
Public School 310 feels like an updated Yard House with great beer and fun comfort food. The noise level is extreme but its what you would expect from a brew pub like this.
