If you haven’t been to The Hart and the Hunter in the Palihotel in West Hollywood, you should. The Chefs, Kris Tominaga and Brian Dunsmoor got acquainted working together as sous chefs at Joe’s in Venice, CA. Soon after they opened as a pop up restaurant “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing” in the Capri space in Venice for a few months.
Now partners in The Hart and the Hunter, thier food is locally sourced California cuisine with a slight Southern Twist. The Brunch menu reads like a food lover’s dream….biscuits with pimiento cheese, fried green tomato benedict and chicken cracklins fried egg and tomato sandwich. The cracklins was a brilliant idea replacing the traditional bacon on a BLT.
Also, they have pecan pancakes, housemade granola and cheddar grits to name a few other delights. On the lighter side “Kale Salad” of course but, the shaved brussels sprout salad with peanuts and cheddar was outstanding. I must say, the best salad I have had in a while – the perfect balance of flavors and crunch and not over dressed.
The Hart and the Hunter serves breakfast during the week and brunch on the weekends. Lunch and dinner are served nightly as well.
