I’m lucky enough to be sheltering in place with my grandson this Mother’s Day because his mother is a nurse, and we decided as a family months ago, to have him stay with us during this time. It’s actually been remarkably nice to have such a nice boy with us everyday, and it gives me and my husband something extra special to get up to in the morning. Though at times it’s hard for him not to be with his mom, we all appreciate her sacrifice and hope that things will return to some kind of normalcy relatively soon. That being said, it’s still Mother’s Day this Sunday, and we are having a small gathering outside on the deck, social distancing apart, and I am cooking up a few things we all can enjoy.
Mother’s Day usually involves brunch for most moms, but I’m not like most moms – I don’t really like breakfast foods, well not eggs anyway, not unless there’s some kind of hot sauce involved. I do love baked brunch treats though, and I make brunch for my family every weekend, and it just so happens that I have a boatload of recipes for breakfast here on my blog. I consider myself more of a dinner person and we tend to have an early dinner on Mother’s Day. So, I’ve included some lunch and dinner recipes too.
Please don’t forget dessert on Mother’s Day, no matter if you brunch, lunch or prefer to eat at dinnertime, here are some doozies that I just love and hope you will too. So, have a great Mother’s Day and whether or not you’re physically celebrating with mom or grandma, do something special for them. Happy Mother’s Day!
