Peppermint Mochachino – Recipe!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

If you’re craving something warm and frothy with a bit of dark chocolate mint this morning, my peppermint mochachino will satisfy your hankering for this delightful beverage.  Squares of Ghirardelli dark chocolate mint can be found almost anywhere right now, and easily melted down, and whisked into an espresso.  No need to stand in line at your local coffeehouse because this drink can be easily prepared at home in your own kitchen within minutes.

A shot of espresso is needed for the base, and whether you have your own espresso machine, or use a good quality instant espresso powder, it’s the beginning of a great mochachino.  Two squares of dark chocolate mint bark are melted in a microwave with some milk, and whisked together until smooth.  A drop, and I mean just a drop of peppermint extract, enhances the minty experience, which can be added to the melted chocolaty mixture.

This drink is warm, yet cool on your breath from the peppermint, and it will most definitely put you in the right frame of mind this holiday.  I created this special drink for my sister because she’s such a fan of chocolate peppermint treats.  I think it’s a nice change in the morning from your classic latte, and a nice beverage to enjoy either in the morning, or later in the afternoon for a delicious pick-me-up.

To Prepare:

  1. In a small bowl, add dark chocolate peppermint bark and milk.  Microwave for 1 minute, remove and whisk until smooth.  Heat for 30 seconds more, and add peppermint extract, stir.
  2. Make 1 shot of espresso in a cup and pour dark chocolate peppermint mixture over top.  Serve hot and with another square of chocolate and maybe some crumbled over top, if desired.  Enjoy!
