I was going to create a new dressing and cranberry sauce recipe this year, but why reinvent the wheel? Actually in all seriousness, I love these two dressing and cranberry sauce recipes so much, that I won’t venture far from either of them on Wednesday, when I begin to make my own Thanksgiving day food for my family. What makes all of them so good, is the ingredients.
One of the dressing recipes has a southern twist made with cornbread, sweet sausage, and apples, and the other, a vegetarian-style dressing prepared with sautéed mushrooms and tons of fresh herbs. Both of them are flavorful and fragrant and go so well with turkey. I do think homemade dressing this is my favorite side dish of the meal.
Cranberry sauce made quickly is a pan can be so fun to prepare. What makes it so special are the additions like fresh citrus, diced pear, or booze that you can add. Cranberries are a clean palate, ready to take-on any flavors you want to bring to the party. I also think cranberry sauce is a necessity on any table because its purpose is to counterbalance all the rich foods with a pleasant acidity. Its brightness on the plate also brings a colorful touch to any Thanksgiving day meal.
