Manhattan – Recipe!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

A good Manhattan is my cocktail of choice when the weather is chilly and rainy outside.  There is nothing like sipping on a bourbon mixed with good vermouth and a few splashes of bitters to set the evening just right.  There is always a warming sensation the comes with a Manhattan and it’s perfect on a night like tonight.

Rye bourbon is always a favorite in a Manhattan because it has enough spicy notes to hold up to the sweet vermouth.  The best vermouth for the job is Carpano Antica, an Italian vermouth that blends so lovely with bourbon.  I’ve tried others, and trust me, this one is the ticket to the smoothest Manhattan.  Luxardo cherries are a necessity as well, and in my Manhattan, I add a teaspoon of cherry syrup from the jar to give my cocktail another note of juicy flavor.  I like my Manhattan shaken with ice and strained into a martini glass with a few skewered cherries.  Cheers!
