Every Halloween requires a Spooktacular cocktail to sip on with friends while we admire each others costumes and watch the little ones frolic through their candy. There’s something magical about the ability to create a drink that’s purple hued and tastes frightfully delicious like this monster mash frothy margarita. This drink is created with pomegranate juice, tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and an egg white to give it some body. The entire thing is shaken with ice and strained over a high-ball glass that’s rimmed in black sugar.
You can double the recipe and make two at a time, or prepare a pitcher for a crowd, but you might not get the added bubbles from shaking them up one at a time. If black sugar is hard to come by, you can always rim the glasses with green sugar, a more readily available color in your local market. The flavors of this drink are slightly fruity with a creaminess that will leave you pleasantly haunted. Boo!
Ingredients
2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce Cointreau
3 ounces pomegranate juice
1/2 lime
1 egg white
black or green sugar for rim
ice or shaking
pomegranate slices for top
(Makes 1 Cocktail)
To Prepare:
- Use lime wedge to wet rim of glass. Dip rim into black sugar and set aside.
- In a shaker filled with ice, add tequila, Cointreau, pomegranate juice, lime juice and egg white.
- Shake, shake, shake. Strain into glass. Top with pomegranate slice and lime wedge. Enjoy!
