Whether it’s salted or purely sticky sweet, caramel is a luxurious syrup or flavor that enhances almost any baked treat. I just so happen to be a caramel person. I know, I know – most of you fall onto the chocolate bandwagon, but when it comes to holiday desserts, caramel is where it’s at. I prefer a good caramel sauce, infused with bourbon and butter, or a deeply hued dessert that tastes rich and decadent because of the enhanced slightly bitter flavor. Caramel pairs so nicely with nuts too, it clings on the clusters delicately, while still holding tight to its authentic deeper-than-butterscotch taste.
