M.B. Post – Manhattan Beach

If you haven’t been to Manhattan Beach in a while, now is the time.  New restaurants are popping up everywhere and the selection is much better.  M.B. Post in a small plates –farmer’s market fresh –restaurant from chef David LeFevre of Water Grill in downtown Los Angeles.  Chef LeFevre menu reads wonderfully but tastes even better.

Definitely start with the unique selection of charchuterie and cheeses paired with the housemade mustards and honeys.  Two words — truffle honey — to die for good!  The mustards are eventfully made with stout, red wine and pink peppercorns.  Biscuit fan anyone?  The bacon, cheddar, buttermilk biscuits absolutely melt in your mouth with the added bonus of smokey chunks of crunchy pork.  Gooood!

As for veggies – the asparagus with poached Jidori egg and mushrooms had a nice tang with the splash of vinegar and the pomegranate cous cous with lavender feta and marcona almonds was creamy and very flavorful.

For seafood, the steamed grouper was flakey and tender but for $15.00 the portion needed to be a little larger.  The meat section of the menu included a variety of free range options and we opted for the albondigas meatballs with yam puree because it reminded me of my favorite Mexican soup.

The wine list is quite extensive offering 3-ounce and 6-ounce pours as well as a $15.00 per bottle corkage policy.  Unique beer selection as well.  Fabulous!
