There is nothing like apple sauce made at home, right in your kitchen.  This mildly sweet puree, made from whole apples, apple juice and a little sugar, is divine to eat right out of a bowl for breakfast or snack, or served with savory meats like; pork chops and roasts.  As we know, apple sauce is easily purchased from the grocery store is a variety of flavors, but making it at home is a fresh experience, one you shouldn’t miss.

Homemade Apple Sauce is relatively easy to create, just slice some apples and cook them in a pan.  If you have a food mill, it makes it easy to puree the apples into a smooth sauce.  Otherwise, you can remove the skins and use your food processor for pureeing, or pass the cooked apples through a fine sieve.

One idea is to store the apple sauce in smaller jars, so you can share them with friends, they make great gifts.  If you usually bring cookies or wine for the hostess, try a jar or two of Homemade Apple Sauce instead.
