Carthay Circle Restaurant – Disney California Adventure, Anaheim!

Carthay Circle Restaurant in Disney California Adventure is creating some amazing food this summer, while celebrating Disney’s 60th Anniversary.  I have dined at Napa Rose in the Grand Californian Hotel several times and the whole experience from service to food was exceptional.  But this time, I was going inside the park for a taste of Carthay Circle Restaurant.

Chef Andrew Sutton, heads up both Napa Rose and Carthay Circle Restaurants, so I knew the cooking was going to be good.  I booked our reservation at Disneyland.com, which offered a dining package to see the “World of Color” in a special designated section in California Adventure, if we ordered the 3-course tasting menu.

Carthay Circle Restaurant is decorated with chandeliers and low lighting for an elegant feel.  Most people come in their Disneyland Finest, but you do seem some diners a little more dressed up.  As for the menu, it reads like a fine dining experience.  The Ceviche of Citrus Marinated Cobia in Avocado and Tomatillo Essence was divine.  The flavors were so fresh and light and I loved the thick avocado puree under the marinated fish.

The Herb Crusted Lamb Scaloppini with Artichokes, Red Peppers & Avocado was prepared magically.   The crust was super crunchy, more of a Milanese style, which kept the lamb juicy and tender.  I enjoyed the seasonal vegetables on top to contrast the hearty meats flavors.  This dish was very large and two could of shared it easily.

The Butterscotch Panna Cotta with Summer Peaches & Berries with Almond Toffee was off-the-charts delicious.  The balance of creamy, tart and crunchy all in one bite was exceptional.  I loved this dessert.

After this fantastic dinner, we headed to The World of Color show in Disney California Adventure.  If you haven’t seen it – you must!  It’s just as beautiful as the dinner.
